Gunbound

Tuesday, May 17th, 2005

I just recently started playing this Worms-like game.  Now I remember why I didn’t play it before: I suck at it.  I suck at aiming while my opponents always hit me.  On the other hand, it is a great stress reliever even though I often lose.  As of now, my record stands at 18-36 (i.e. 33% win percentage).  Yes…I’m that bad…

Wizards lost…

Sunday, May 15th, 2005

I just watched the game between the Heat and the Wizards.  I was disappointed that Wizards lost the series 4-0.  I thought they were doing well this game except that damn Eddie Jones made that 3.  Oh well…I’m just rooting for the Wizards because my dad and brother are rooting for the Heat.  On the other half of the Eastern Conference playoffs, I’m behind the Pacers on this one since I like Miller and it would be nice to see a Pacers-Heat matchup instead of Pistons-Heat.

No internet

Wednesday, May 11th, 2005

I came home last night from school and found out that the internet was down.  Or was it?  My dad quickly surmised that Shaw cut us off again because of excessive bandwidth use (read: too much downloading and uploading).  This is not the first time it happened, but the last time it happened was a few years ago so my siblings and I thought we were within the limit now.  Apparently not.  My dad called the ISP and he found out that the limit is 20 GB/month and that we already reached that limit.  With no other choice, my dad had to upgrade our account to have a new limit of 50 GB/month to restore the service.  The upgrade should also make browsing very, very fast, not to mention downloading =).

But when I get back home tonight, I expect my dad to lecture me and my siblings about the consequences of abusing the internet.  I know how this goes.  We won’t download for a while, and then we’ll be back to our old habits a few days later.

Armored Core Nexus

Tuesday, May 10th, 2005

I just finished the 2 discs last Sunday, and I was just tinkering around with my AC designs yesterday.  I’m thinking of getting a network adapter and an extra network cable and using Xlink Kai to play online, but then that would really distract me from my course work.  If I know myself, I would probably buy it just to have a reason to NOT do school stuff.  If I do decide to buy the adapter, then the responsibility lies on me to ensure I keep up with my studies.

Yes, I’m addicted to the game enough that I would want to play online.  On the other hand, I’m also a cheap bastard.  The network adapter costs about $65 with tax, plus I have to buy the network cable from the PS2 to the computer, which is about $10.  The question then is if my addiction would overcome my hold on my money.  I’ll find out in the next few days.

Just finished the lab

Friday, May 6th, 2005

My group just finished doing the lab work for our feedback control systems course.  It’s quite unbelievable that it’s due next week.  Now all we have to do is do some calculations and write the report.  I have some homework too in other courses so this weekend should be fun.

On the other hand, I’m going with my mom tomorrow to her godson’s birthday party.  My mom doesn’t really want to drive, hence that’s the main reason I’m tagging along.  On the other hand, the party is at Top Gun in New West, and all-you-can-eat Japanese would compensate me nicely.  Yum!

Gankutsuou

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2005

Gankutsuou is friggin’ good.  I had downloaded the whole series a while ago, but my sister watched it before me.  She said it was good and so once the school semester was over, I watched it.  I ended up finishing the whole series in 1 day, and damn it is good.

Gankutsuou is based on Alexandre Dumas’ novel "The Count of Monte Cristo", but set in the future and across the universe.  I can’t wait to get my grubby hands on the DVDs when they’re released here in Canada.
