Evangelion marathon

Wednesday, August 17th, 2005

Woohoo!  I just finished watching all 26 episodes of my favorite anime of all time, Neon Genesis Evangelion.  I bought the boxed set one year ago and the reason I’m watching it again this year is because this weekend is Anime Evolution up in SFU.  Yes, I watched the entire series a year ago, I watched it again this year, and I will most probably watch it again next year and the years to come.

Why is it my favorite?  Because all the episodes tell a good story.  All in all, I watched it 3 times already, and I never get bored of the series no matter how many times I watch it.  On another note, the final 2 episodes are slowly but surely making sense to me now (which is kinda scary).  I plan to watch End of Evangelion to complete the NGE experience, and then it’s off to Anime Evolution on Friday with my brother and sister.

Final Exams…

Tuesday, August 2nd, 2005

Today marked the start of my finals:  3 grueling exams that will test my mental stamina and good understanding of the material learned this semester.  It was open book and open notes, so I brought my book and all my notes for that microelectronics course.

At 12 pm, the exam started.  I looked at the front page, and I thought, "Hmm, so far so good", as I proceeded to write my name and student number.  When I flipped the page, I stared at the circuit drawn on it for a few seconds.  Scratching my chin, I flipped the page again.  After about 7 flips, I reached the end of the exam.  I gulped.  The questions all look hard.  I resorted to my secret weapon: prayer.  After a few words to the Lord, I swear that my mind suddenly got clearer.  I put away my fear of the hard questions and I tried to understand them as best I could.  I then proceeded to answer them one by one.

After 3 hours, it was finally over.  Hopefully, I answered most of them correctly.  As everyone was shuffling out of the room, I got together with my lab group and discussed the questions that we encountered.  We didn’t get far when one of us said "Let us never talk about this again".  We each went our separate ways soon afterwards.  I walked over to the student lounge, ate, and then drowned my sorrows and mental anguish with some good old foosball with some other engineering students.

It’s 6 more days until my next exam.  Argh, I also have a damn project due on the 15th so some of those 6 days will be spent doing that.

1 down, 2 to go.
